WALTRAUD, a young lady living in a mythical, late-nineteenth-century city in Bohemia, keeps hearing the tortured cries of a local penitent named RÜBEZAHL. Day by day, the winged old man calls out to her. 

As Rübezahl goes free, to exact his revenge upon the city, a sinister rain begins to fall—a ghost rain that begins to slowly flood the city, conjuring endless illusions. Determined to defeat Rübezahl, Waltraud discovers the power of prescient thinking—a clear, rational understanding of how the past and present are likely to unfold in the future.
